  19.   Configuring Turbo Pascal on Network Systems

  21.   First, it must be clear to users that network requirements are
  22.   not considered in the design or development of Turbo Pascal. The
  23.   intended target system is an IBM PC, AT, PS/2 or 100% compatible
  24.   with at least 448K of available DOS RAM, 5 megabytes hard disk
  25.   space, and at least one floppy drive.

  27.   Through years of use, it has been found that Turbo Pascal happens
  28.   to work satisfactorily on a number of network systems.  The
  29.   following guidelines may be used if installation on a network
  30.   system is required.

  32.       o  Install Turbo Pascal from the original diskettes from a
  33.          node with both Read and Write capability in the target
  34.          directory of the server.
  35.  
  36.       o  Ensure that all nodes requiring access to Turbo Pascal
  37.          have at least Read rights in the directory where Turbo
  38.          Pascal has been installed.
  39.  
  40.       o  Have each node run Turbo Pascal at a directory where both
  41.          Read and Write actions are allowed.  Preferably, the
  42.          current directory would reside on a local drive or at
  43.          least a directory designated for use by only a single
  44.          node.  It is to this private disk space that Turbo
  45.          Pascal's swap files and configuration files are to be
  46.          saved.

  48.       o  Allow Turbo Pascal to create source and executable code
  49.          either on a local drive or at a directory designated for
  50.          use by only a single node.  If programs are to be created
  51.          on a network, provide both Read and Write access to the
  52.          appropriate areas of the network drive.

  54.   Instructions for granting access rights for a particular network
  55.   system are found in documentation provided by its manufacturer.
  56.   Check with the System Administrator or the manufacturer for
  57.   specific information.

  59.   Before installing any software on a network, be certain that you
  60.   are licensed for each node able run the software simultaneously
